Maldives resorts updates; accurate staff perspectives
Resorts
Resorts…resorts.. so many of them…Where would you like to go?
For the resort owners and operators these islands may be business ventures..
for the politicians of this country these islands maybe $ factories…
for our guests these islands are just exotic places to make holiday..
But for us the staff.. these islands are our second home…
This is an ongoing work and we will list all the resorts of Maldives with a current aerial pic if possible and if there is any mistake in the info pls comment and we will correct ..

very interesting web site. As a lover of your country it is good to be able to read about the reality of the life of the people who make all the resorts possible for us foreigners. And the catalogue of aerial resort photos is very very useful. Hadahaa (alila villas) needs a new image though.. On the current photo there is no resort yet!
Picture captioned “Kihaadhuffaru Le Meridian” is actually Coco Palm Dunikolhu – there is already a caption for CPD earlier but I can’t see the picture – it’s the only one that doesn’t display on my pc – so I don’t know whether that is another pic of Coco Palm correctly captioned or if it is Le Meridian and the pics have been swapped.
Interesting site – good to know what the staff really think rather than what they’re presumably told to say to visitors. Back in the 1980s when the resorts were much simpler (and much nicer in our opinion) we talked to the staff a lot but it seems everything has got far too “professional” and not as “laid-back” and friendly as it once was. As the opening remarks state, it’s more about $$$$$ these days. Looking at the pictures above there are few resorts I would want to visit now as I think they have been spoiled by over development, and too-modern and Western-style development, and cluttered with water bungalows. I guess the more rooms available in the country, the more jobs that are available but that is not much good if you are treated badly and I think what I read here is bad. I hope conditions improve for you all.
We loved visiting your country so much but probably will not return unless the planned more simple resorts make a comeback. We just cannot afford the prices anymore but even if we could, we don’t want the luxury on offer. We used to visit every year but only twice in the last 8 years and don’t envisage any return soon.
We do miss how it used to be, and all the lovely staff we met over the many years and will keep looking and hoping. Good luck to you all.
